Our signature corrective treatment for acne scarring, texture and pores.

Microneedling is collagen induction therapy. A sterile, single-use cartridge of fine needles creates thousands of precise micro-channels in the skin. Your skin reads them as a signal to repair, and responds by producing fresh collagen and elastin.

Because the change comes from your own skin rebuilding, results arrive gradually and look natural. Most clients notice a smoother, brighter surface within a week, and real structural change across a series of three sessions.

At Vela every microneedling plan is led by Sienna, who adjusts depth zone by zone: deeper over rolling acne scars, gentler around the eyes and on thinner skin.

One session refreshes. A series rebuilds. We recommend three sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart for scarring and texture, then one maintenance session every 4 to 6 months. Collagen keeps building for up to 3 months after your last session.

We review your skin, routine and calendar, photograph your skin in consistent light, and agree the depth and areas to treat.

Cleanse & numb
25 min
Your skin is double-cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. You relax with tea while it takes effect, so treatment feels like light pressure and vibration.

Microneedling
25 min
Using a medical-grade pen and a sterile single-use cartridge, we work in small sections over a hyaluronic glide serum, adjusting depth zone by zone.

Calm & protect
15 min
A cooling, sterile post-procedure serum and mineral SPF are applied. You leave with a written aftercare plan for the next 7 days.

Recovery

Your skin, day by day.

Downtime: 24–48 hours of mild redness, like a light sunburn. Tell us your dates and we will plan around them.

Redness fades. Mineral makeup is fine from 24 hours.

Before you come

1Pause retinoids, tretinoin and chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA) 5 days before.
2Avoid direct sun and self-tanner on the face for 5 days before.
3Skip waxing, threading or depilatory creams on the face for 5 days.
4Arrive with clean skin if you can. We cleanse thoroughly either way.
5Prone to cold sores? Tell us at booking. You may need an antiviral first.

After your treatment

1No makeup for 24 hours, then mineral makeup only for 2 more days.
2Wash with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water.
3No retinoids, acids or vitamin C serums for 5 days.
4Skip the gym, sauna, hot yoga and swimming for 48 hours.
5Mineral SPF 30+ every morning, and a wide hat outdoors.
6Sleep on a clean pillowcase the first night.

With 25 minutes of numbing cream, most clients describe light pressure and vibration, with a little more sensation over the forehead and upper lip. You can ask us to pause at any time.

Your skin looks fresher within a week. Changes to scarring and texture build over the following 4 to 12 weeks as collagen forms, which is why we plan a series.

Allow at least 7 days between microneedling and a big event, and 2 weeks if you want to be completely safe. For the days just before, our Radiance Peel has no downtime.

Yes. Unlike many lasers, microneedling does not rely on heat or pigment, so it is a good option for all skin tones when performed with the right depth and aftercare.
